I’m receiving an error message when trying to register my payroll account number. What should I do?

Each payroll account number can only be registered once on Job Bank. If you encounter an error message stating that the payroll account number is already in use, contact the Primary Officer or an Administrator of the employer file. They can give you access to the file by adding you as a user.

If you don't know who is registered on the employer file, follow these steps:

For business owners, directors, or employees - contact us and provide the following:

  • Email address used to create your user account. A personal corporate email address is recommended if you have one. You can change your email address as needed.
  • Payroll account number of the business.
  • Business information: legal name, primary address and phone number.

For third-party representatives - contact us and provide the following:

  • Email address used to create your user account
  • Payroll account number of the business that is hiring
  • Business information: legal name, primary address and phone number
  • Employer contact information (full name and phone number of the person authorizing you). The employer contact must be from the business that is hiring, not from the third-party's business.
  • Licensing information:
    • Licensed recruiter: provide your license/certification number, or the agency's license number
    • Licensed lawyer, notary, or paralegal: provide the name of the regulatory body you are registered with
    • Licensed immigration consultant: provide your RCIC number
    • Unlicensed paid representative: provide the name of your licensed supervisor, or the business name of your employer

Failure to provide the requested information may delay access to the file. We may also request additional documents to confirm your relationship with the employer.

Note: In order to use Job Bank and to be added to an employer file, you must first create your own user account. A user account is different from an employer file as it contains your personal information and it cannot be shared with anyone.
